Abstract
588,569. Sleeve-valve engines. BUNN, G. Nov. 9, 1944, No. 22035. [Classes 7 (ii) , 7 (v) and 7 (vi)] In a sleeve-valve engine, separate rows of inlet and exhaust ports 1, 2 are uniformly distributed around a cylinder liner and the sleevevalve, which moves as indicated by the arrows, has one set of ports 4 co-operating therewith. The sleeve-valve may have additional exhaust and inlet ports 8, 11 which are uncovered by the piston. The cylinder liner may be formed as a stationary sleeve, angularly adjustable for reversing the engine.
