726,344. Cylinders. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. March 27, 1953 [April 16, 1952], No. 8483/53. Class 7 (2). A combustion chamber is in part formed by a concavity 61 in the piston top formed as a surface of revolution about an axis disposed parallel to the cylinder axis and on the side thereof remote from inlet and exhaust valves 18, 19, a spark plug gap 27 being disposed on the axis of revolution. The concavity 61 may be hemispherical or have sides tapering inwardly towards the cylinder head, which is in all cases recessed opposite the concavity and around the valve seats.
