489,759. Radial - cylinder engines. HEMPEL, R. Nov. 3, 1936, No. 29882. Convention date, Sept. 4. [Class 7 (ii)] The ratio of crankspeed to cylinder-star speed is an odd multiple of the number of cylinders. The number of groups of exhaust, inlet and ignition devices G, F, I, in the ring encircling the cylinder block is equal, in a four-stroke engine, to half the aforesaid ratio increased or decreased by one-half according to whether the cylinders and shafts rotate in opposite or in the same direction, and, in a two-stroke engine, to the ratio increased or decreased in similar circumstances by one.
