Abstract

399,911. Two-stroke oil engines. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and MELLOR, G. A., Skerries, Welling, Kent. May 10, 1932, No. 13466. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii).] In a two-stroke engine in which the inlet and exhaust ports 12, 9 are in separate parallel cylinders having a common clearance space 11, the pistons are shaped to correspond with a domed cylinder head and the space 11 is restricted to a spherical or cylindrical cavity. The fuel-nozzle is located at a point where the speed of flow of the cooling fluid is increased bv reduction of its passage-area. Hot spots are constituted by tips 13 of the pistons, the functions of which may be interchanged. They are connected to separate crank shafts geared together. Specifications 220,418, and 237,990 [both in Class 7 (ii), Internal-combustion engines, Arrangement &c. of], are referred to.
