Abstract
430,368. Induction pipes. HARDMAN, H. S., and BROWN, G. J., 74, Dragon Parade, Harrogate, Yorkshire, and DALE, H. L., 72, Wellington Road, Bush Hill Park, Enfield, Middlesex. Feb. 19, 1934, No. 5344. [Class 7 (ii)] When the throttle valve 8 is closed during slow running, a separate pipe 12 supplies combustible mixture from the normal fuel supply system to a point adjacent the inlet port of each cylinder ; the size of the pipe 12 is such that the mixture is drawn through at high speed and condensation of the fuel avoided. A nozzle 11 having an adjustable air inlet 10<a> is attached to the slow-running passage 9, or the float chamber, of the carburetter and the supply is adjusted by screws 14 which are located at the points in a distributer pipe 12b at which branches 12a lead to perforated plates 13 fixed between the manifold 6 and the passages 5 of the respective cylinders. A valve may be connected to the accelerator pedal to stop the supply on depression thereof.
