Abstract

451,726. Spray carburetters. GLADWELL, A. W. D., Ampton Street Works, Gray's Inn Road, London. July 18, 1935, No. 20473. [Class 7 (iii)] Fuel supplied through a central tube b is atomized by air drawn, from a point unaffected by the depression in the choke tube g surrounding the fuel nozzle, through a passage c surrounding the tube b and through oblique holes o in a cap a having a central divergent cavity into which fuel is drawn. A bridge piece f houses the fuel inlet conduit h and air inlet passage j and the air is whirled by a helical vane p in the passage c. Both primary and secondary air supplies may be heated by the exhaust gases. The holes o are set at 30‹ to the horizontal and their axes intersect at a point within the cavity.
