Abstract

449,829. Auxiliary charge admission devices. MORRIS, D., and DUCHAINE, E., 87, Main Avenue, Timmins, Ontario, Canada. April 2, 1935, No. 10252. [Class 7 (ii)] A valve 20, operated in conjunction with the main throttle valve, admits to the charge a mixture of fuel and air, e.g. vapour-laden air from the space above the liquid fuel in the fuel tank 32, through a port 28, and atmospheric air through a port 22. Tapering grooves 23, 27 on the valve are arranged so that, as the main throttle is opening, the passage area for the vapour-laden air is reduced and that for the atmospheric air is increased. The valve is mounted in a plate 10 clamped between the carburetter and the induction pipe and is operated from the accelerator rod 13 by an adjustable link 16 and a pivoted rod 15. A non-return valve 36 in the filler cap of the fuel tank permits air to be drawn therethrough, and a mixing chamber 31 for the fuel vapour and the air is formed above the tank.
