Abstract

539,433. Spray carburetters. BECK, L., BERTELE, L., and DUSTERLOH, A. June 3, 1938, No. 16675. Convention date, June 5. 1937. [Class 7 (iii)] In a carburetter in which a main nozzle 3 is dimensioned to supply fuel at low speeds, and an auxiliary nozzle 7 supplies fuel at higher speeds when a baffle plate 10 obscures an orifice 9 for braking-air, the nozzle 7 is located in the Venturi tube adjacent the main nozzle 3 on the side of the throttle remote from the engine and the supply of braking air increases as the throttle valve opens. The fuel supply to the main nozzle is through a passage 2 leading to a float chamber 1 whereas the supply to the auxiliary nozzle is through a passage 6 located above a well fed through a passage 4. In addition to the braking-air supplied through the orifice 9 a further supply of braking air enters through an adjustable orifice 8 which is always open. If preferred, the main nozzle may receive fuel from a well.
