Abstract

550,150. Spray carburetters. GORNALL, J. H., and WOOD, J. E. Aug. 15, 1941, No. 10391. [Class 7 (iii)] A carburetter using both light and heavy fuels has compensating, starting and slow running orifices F, G, H respectively for the'light fuel and a main orifice K for heavy air-fuel mixture. The main fuel is supplied past a valve c<SP>4</SP> and mixes with air which enters through a Venturi passage c<SP>2</SP> the resulting mixture being heated in an exhaustheated chamber k before issuing through the delivery orifice K. Unvaporized fuel is collected in a chamber N. The orifices G, H are located on the engine side of the throttle j and the three orifices F, G, H open into a common passage e to which air is admitted at E and fuel through an adjustable needle valve, not shown. The air-fuel mixture discharged through the compensating orifice supplements the air-fuel mixture issuing from the passage k.
