Abstract

145,921. Cox, A. May 6, 1919. Spray carburettors.-A carburettor for use with liquid-fuel burners, oil-fired furnaces, &c. and internal-combustion engines wherein the demand for combustible mixture is practically constant, comprises a main passage a with a Venturi section a<3> into the throat of which a relatively small bore branch passage b discharges. The branch passage is open to the atmosphere at b<2> and receives fuel from a nozzle c which enters the branch at right-angles thereto. The nozzle, which may have a submerged orifice c<2>, discharges into the. throat of a Venturi portion of the branch passage. The jet orifice may be controlled by a needle valve. Air may be forced or drawn by a pump or blower through the main passage, the intake of which is shown at a<1> and the outlet at a<2>. Specification 124,061 is referred to.
