Abstract

8287. Storey, J. E. April 6. Spray carburettors.-A strong mixture at low speeds and a weaker mixture at higher speeds are obtained by supplying fuel to the mixing- chamber through two nozzles, the fuel being supplied from the float chamber to one nozzle in the usual manner and to the other or secondary nozzle over a weir. The secondary nozzle is shown at c, and the weir is formed by a ledge g in the float chamber d, the width of the weir being adjusted by a port h in a plug i. A valve n controls the air inlet and mixture outlet. The air inlet may consist of a long tapered tube, and the secondary jet is placed in relation to the throttle valve, which may be rotatable, so that the air current plays directly on it. The Provisional Specification also states that the throttle valve when closed may allow cold air to pass to the cylinders.
