Abstract

116,085. Barbarou, M. J. B. May 9, 1917, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors. -The nozzle G is fed through a pipe D which dips into an auxiliary chamber B open at the top to the atmosphere, and supplied with fuel from a float chamher A through an orifice C. The nozzle and pipe D form a siphon, at the highest point of which is a small hole F, which may be closed during normal running and prevents petrol from flowing when the engine is stopped. For the same purpose, the top of the chamber B may be closed. The area of the orifice C may be adjusted by hand. In two modified constructions, the nozzle G discharges downwards, the auxiliary chamber B in one construction being similar to that shown and, in the other construction, extending to some distance below the bottom of the float chamber.
