Abstract
1695. Paterson, T. W., and Acme Automatic Carburetter, Ltd. Feb. 3. Spray carburettors.-A main nozzle and two auxiliary nozzles in one structure receive their supply of fuel from a sump which is fed from the float chamber through a restricted orifice. Fuel is supplied also from an auxiliary reservoir to the periphery of a butterfly throttle valve to facilitate starting. Fuel from the float chamber 5 passes through the conduit 6, well 4, and restricted orifice 3, to the sump 16, whence it passes directly to the main nozzle 8 and indirectly through a further restricted orifice 12 to the first auxiliary nozzle 9 and second auxiliary nozzle 10. The orifices a, b,. Fig. 4, of the main and first auxiliary nozzles converge, but the orifices c of the second auxiliary nozzle diverge. The orifices c are larger than b, and the orifice b is larger than a. In a modification, only the nozzle 9 is fed through the restriction 12, the nozzle 10 being provided with an aperture leading into the annular space 14<b>. Fuel from the reservoir 13, open to the atmosphere at 15, passes to the periphery of the throttle valve 18 by way of a conduit 19, Figs. 1 and 7, and ports 23, 24 in the throttle spindle, a bevelled edge 26 on which controls the supply. This fuel supply is cut off after a predetermined movement of the throttle valve.
