Abstract
119,168. King, C. F. L. Jan. 4, 1918. Spray carburettors.-In a carburettor in which a small quantity of external air is admitted to a chamber between a restricted fuel orifice and the spraying orifice, the admission of the air is controlled by a rotary member operated from or turning with the throttle valve, the supply being reduced as the throttle valve opens. In one form, Fig. 1, a float chamber 2 supplies fuel to a restricted orifice 3; between the orifice 3 and the spraying-nozzle 5 is a chamber 4 in communication with an air-inlet chamber 9, to which air is admitted by a conduit 11 and an aperture 15 controlled by a recess 16 in the spindle of the throttle valve 14. This inlet is closed as the throttle opens. Air may also be admitted to the chamber 9 by a hand-actuated needle valve 33. A pilot jet 20 adjacent to the edge of the throttle is supplied by a depending tube 10 in the chamber 9 and a hand-controlled air-inlet valve 25. In a modification, the admission of air to the chamber 9 is controlled by a disk valve mounted on the squared end of the throttle-valve spindle.
