Abstract

21,276. Barnett, A. D. March 26, 1912. Spray carburettors.-Concentric sleeves y, l control simultaneously the air and fuel supplies. The sleeve l, actuated by the sleeve y through an arm z, has an external helical groove q, which communicates through an aperture r with a peripheral groove t leading to the jet passages u, u. The aperture r and consequently the supply of fuel are varied by rotating the sleeve l. Fuel is retained in the chamber a by a non-return k and passes to the helical groove and the jets when the valve f on being raised by suction causes the orifices n, m to register. Hot-air enters at c and circulates in the jacket b whence it passes to the mixing - chamber through ports v, w controlled by the sleeve y. The sleeve l may be separately controlled, and the sleeve y may be controlled with the throttle valve. Nozzles may or may not be fitted to the passages u.
