Abstract

29,440. Brown, C., and Brown & Barlow. Dec. 21. Spray carburettors. - The pressure in the mixing-chamber near the liquid-fuel nozzles is maintained constant by means of an automatic throttle 6 which slides in the passage between the air-inlets 3, 4 and the engine admission pipe 5. The throttle is attached to a piston 8, one or the other side of which is put into communication with the mixing-chamber by a valve 12. The valve is controlled by the pressure in the mixing-chamber acting upon a diaphragm 14. The throttle 6 first uncovers the supply of hot air at 4 and then ordinary air at 3 ; it also exposes the fuel-nozzles in succession. A manuallycontrolled throttle 17 and pilot jet 18 may be employed.
