Abstract

24,416. Leduc, R. Oct. 25. Spray carburettors.-The fuel-nozzle 13, Fig. 1, is arranged above an air-nozzle 11 in a cylindrical piece 10 having an annular recess, in the bottom of which are small holes 12. Drops of fuel falling into the recess are vaporized by air passing through these holes. A slide valve 15 controls the mixture and secondary air. On moving it to the left from the position shown in Fig. 1, the induction pipe 30 is opened to the mixing-chamber through the passage 17 in the valve. Subsequently, the triangular port 18b in the valve coincides with the similar port 20 and admits secondary air through the passage 18 in the valve. On further movement, a passage 24 in the valve establishes communication between the suction pipe and a spring-controlled air-valve 21, which admits further secondary air under the influence of the engine suction. A secondary sprayer 25 and air-nozzle 26, similar to the main sprayer and nozzle, are arranged in a branch 29 communicating with the induction pipe above the valve 15, to admit mixture for slow running. The air admission is through a hole 27, which is adjustable by means of a screw.
