3696. Girling, A. H. G. Feb. 14. Spray carburettors.-A rotary throttle valve b mounted above the jet controls the air entering at a and mixture leaving at c, and is so shaped that the smallest part of the induction passage is always above the jet. In addition, the throttle actuates, through a cam and spring, a valve e in the fuel nozzle. The cam is placed at one end of the throttle, the other end being provided with a combined fuel inlet and filter. To prevent an increased flow of fuel at high speeds, air may enter at a<2> to mix with petrol in the nozzle or two small holes b<1>, b<2> may be drilled in the induction pipe one on each side of the throttle. On moving the throttle past its closed position, air only is admitted.
