Abstract

104,889. Mongiardino, J. F. Feb. 21, 1916. Spray carburettors.-In a carburettor having a throttle valve located in the air-supply passage on the side of the fuel nozzle remote from the engine, the fuel at the spraying point is controlled by a suction-actuated sleeve or valve, so that the supply decreases as the throttle valve closes, and vice versa. In the construction shown in Fig. 2, a throttle valve d is located in the air-inlet passage b, and the fuel supply is controlled by a suctionactuated sleeve p, which surrounds a spraying- nozzle e. The sleeve works against the pressure of a spring w and controls the supply of fuel by regulating the area of an annular passage around the nozzle, into which passage air is induced through orifices r. According to a modified construction, the sleeve around the nozzle is dispensed with, a needle valve being acted upon directly by the varying pressures in the carburettor.
