Abstract

103,973. Ennis, P. J. Oct. 21, 1916. Spray carburettors.-Paraffin from a float chamber K is supplied to a nozzle U, and petrol from a separate source to a nozzle P used at starting only. The nozzle outlets are controlled by a suction-actuated disk-valve V, which serves to deflect air entering through the base J of the carburettor, over the fuel jets. The mixture formed passes through a nest of vertical tubes Z, around which exhaust gases flow, and then through a conical portion Y of the induction pipe. The valve V is spring-loaded and slides over a spindle S, which carries a mixing-fan M, against the blades of which air is drawn through tangential passages in the casing. Air may also be admitted through ports in the base J controlled by a ported ring T.
