19,463. Spiller, H. W. Sept. 16. Gas or explosivevapour engines, carburetting in. The central casing A of a carburettor having two or more fuel jets is surrounded by the annular float - chamber M and is divided by partitions into four channels, two of which B, B<2> are shown. Each channel contains a petrol nozzle and communicates with the outlet G through ports such as F, F<2> in the differential valve C. The port F is partly open at starting and the other ports open in succession. The valve is raised by suction, communication between the chamber D<1> and the suction passage G being effected by the small hole C<3>. The underside of the valve C communicates with the atmosphere through the pipe H. One of the channels B, B<2>, &c. may be without a nozzle and serve as a supplementary air supply. The annular float-chamber prevents variation in the aggregate fuel supply due to tilting of the vehicle. The orifice in the nozzle K may be larger than the other orifices and there may be more or less than four nozzles. The partitioned plate J forms air inlets and serves to catch unvaporized fuel.
