Combustion Methods Of Internal-Combustion Engines
(AREA)
Abstract
10,274. Scott, W. May 3. Gas or explosive-vapour engines, carburetting in. A carburettor for maintaining a mixture of constant strength at all speeds has a series of independent carburetting chambers arranged annularly around a central mixing-chamber with which communication is established through a suction-operated controlling-valve. The spraying-nozzles discharge into separate chambers B, to which hot or cold air is supplied from an annular chamber B<3>, arranged around the central chamber A. The carburettor outlets B<1> are controlled by a suction-operated valve C having longitudinal ports C' which bring the carburetting-chambers into action in succession. An air-inlet valve C<2> prevents the formation of a vacuum beneath the valve C and also damps its action.
