Abstract

164,168. Bloomfield, G. F., and Trotman, A. E. R. March 17, 1920. Spray carburettors.-A sliding throttle valve 6 is used to control the supply of mixture through the orifice 14 and of the main air supply through the pipe 4; when fully open, air is also admitted through the port 10, which supplies cooling air for the engine when the valve is closed, this air passing through the valve. The ports are arranged so that either mixture or air is always supplied while the engine is running. Primary air enters through a number of passages 13. The valve is sloped as at 18 on the admission side of the valve. An annular float-chamber 19 surrounds the fuel nozzle.
