Abstract

158,929. Corbett, G. Oct. 2, 1919. Spray carburettors in which a rich mixture is formed in a jet chamber apart from the main air induction passage, have the jet chamber b arranged parallel to the main air passage a, the rich mixture passing through a short pipe f on the engine side of the air throttle c. A separate throttle g controls the rich mixture the two valves being interlinked; the linkage may be varied to give any desired relative movement of the two throttles. A by-pass is formed in the jet chamber, with openings j<2>, j<1> on opposite sides of the valve; a screw j<4> is used to control the area of the by-pass. Pieces of wire gauze may be placed in the pipe f. The links connecting the two valves are housed in a box formed on the side of the carburettor.
