Abstract

241,855. Botta, F. Oct. 21, 1924, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors. - The body 1 has an air inlet 2, and a mixture outlet controlled by a butterfly throttle valve 3 and is divided into a number of separate air passages 9 formed in a solid piece 10. A nozzle 8 delivers to the centre of each passage a rich mixture from a chamber 5 which receives fuel from a nozzle 4 and is in communication with the atmosphere through ducts 6 controlled by a screw 7. The nozzles are inclined towards the outlet end, and their orifices are in a plane transverse to the axes of the passages 9. These passages are formed on both sides of an unpierced zone which faces and is in the same plane as the axle of the throttle valve 3. With this arrangement, a better control of the carburetting is obtained and the valve axle offers no material resistance to the air flow.
