Spray carburettors.-The constricted passage around the fuel nozzle is obtained by enlarging the throttle valve, the nozzle being formed in the valve. As shown, the stem of the valve f is hollow and dips into the float-feed chamber a, three horizontal passages m, n, o leading from the central enlargement of the stem. At starting and during slow running the passage n forms the fuel nozzle, while during normal working the passage o forms the nozzle; air is drawn through the passage m, the amount being regulated by the valve l.
