Spray carburettors. - A vertical sliding-piston throttle-valve 2 carries at its lower end a nozzle 8, which, when the throttle is lowered to its closing position, forms an extension of the nozzle 4 which is used for normal and high speeds. Thus, at low speeds, fuel issues from orifices 10 and mixes with air entering through orifices 11, and the resulting mixture passes to the engine through passages 12, which may be controlled by a screwed rod 13. Primary air enters at 5 and secondary air from an automatic valve at 6. When running at low speed, the tube 15 becomes filled with fuel, which, when the valve 2 is lifted, is easily drawn into the carburettor.
