Abstract

146,981. Meyer, H., (Representative of Meyer, G.). July 6, 1914, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors, - The supply of fuel to the nozzles is under the control of a valve in a tube 3, the valve being moved towards its closed position by a tappet 12 and intermediate linkage, when the throttle 11 is fully opened ; simultaneously a supplementary air inlet 21 is also adjusted. The carburettor has three nozzles, a nozzle 23 for slow running, this nozzle being carried by a second nozzle 25 for low speeds; the third nozzle 27 comes into action when the throttle is fully open. The throttle is thickened at one end 28 to close the passage 26 from the nozzle 25 during slow running. The nozzles 25, 27 have a series of fuel outlets 29 leading to the spraying-point, these outlets becoming uncovered as the fuel level falls owing to increased suction; air entering through orifices at the top of the annular chamber 29<1> mixes with the fuel before it is sprayed. The restricted passages 39 limit the flow of fuel to the nozzles. When the engine has stopped, the float valve 36 may be held on its seat by the eccentric 33; the valve may be lifted by the eccentric to increase the fuel supply at starting. The casing for the eccentric is held down by the spring 38.
