Abstract

3205. Fritz, J. L. Feb. 15, 1912, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors.-Fuel is admitted direct from the float-chamber to the engine side of the throttle to facilitate starting. A pipe 7, Fig. 3, from the float-chamber is connected to the induction pipe 14 on the engine side of the throttle through passages 12, 26, 28. The passage 26 is formed in a spindle 15 which forms a bearing for lugs 30 on an automatic valve 29 which can be rotated by suction. This valve is weighted at one side and perforated by holes 44 at the other. The movements of the valve are limited by stops 32, 33, Fig. 2. The spindle 15 carries an adjustable arm 37 which may actuate the valve 29 when the spindle is rotated by the arm 40. The position of the spindle is determined by projections on washers 17, Fig. 3, engaging grooves in the casting 11. At starting the parts are as shown in Fig. 3, and the port 28 delivers fuel to the suction passage. As the suction increases the valve 29 is opened, thus admitting air, and when further opened cuts off the port 28 as shown in Fig. 2. Specification 3561/12 is referred to.
