Abstract

141,205. Veulle, F. H. de. May 7, 1919. Spray carburettors.- A mixture of fuel and air is supplied to a stationary Venturi, streamline or other shaped air passage A controlled at both sides of the orifice F in the wall of the passage by a single sleeve valve J. In one form, the passage A is bored in the top of a hollow stem B dipping into the float chamber C, and the fuel passes up a channelled nipple H<2> in the stem B and mixes with air entering at H<5>, the mixture. then passing a spraying-head H<6> to the port F. For slow running, a duct H' leading from the space H<4> may communicate with the gas passage on the engine side of the throttle. In another form, the mixture is formed in a chamber within the float chamber and is led therefrom by one or more passages to one or more gas passages A. The gas passage A may swivel about a hollow arm along which the mixture flows. In another form, the throttle chamber and shaped passage are arranged by the side of the float chamber, and the mixing-chamber is arranged between them. In another form, the fuel passes up a hollow stem fitted in a sleeve surrounded by the float, and mixes with the air in an annular space between the rod and sleeve. In another form, air passes down a hollow rod and through fuel rising through passages in alinement with the rod. The air supply may be controlled in this form by adjusting the air-tube vertically, or by fitting an adjusting-screw in the opening at the top. Specification 10649/14 is referred to.
