Abstract
198,350. Teste, Y. May 24, 1922, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors. -A device for supplying aerated fuel to the main and slow-running nozzles comprises a body 2, Fig. 1, connected to the float chamber by a pipe 4 and provided with concentric tubes 7<1>, 14, 31, the tube 31 being held in position by a nut 32. The nut 32 is provided with a compensating fuel inlet 13 the flow through which is opposed by air induced through the tube 7<1>, the rich mixture passing out through holes 5<1>. Fuel also flows through the annular passage 3 to one or more main inlets 12 situated at the throat of a constriction in the tube 31, which communicates through ports 9 with a passage 8 leading to the main nozzle, and with a passage 10 to which air is admitted by a valve 11 or constricted orifice. The tube 14 leads to a passage 15 opening into an annular space communicating with the slow-running nozzle through a passage 18 and with the atmosphere through a passage 17 and restricted orifice 36. The device may be arranged in the centre of the float chamber, the passages 8, 18, 10, 17 being formed in the cover, and the float being guided on a tube open at the lower end which replaces the lower part of the body 2. In order that the body 47, Fig. 4, of the carburettor may be arranged at any angle with respect to the float chamber 39, the body 47 is provided with a boss having a circular groove 48 connected to the slow-running nozzle 49 and communicating with the passage 18. A pipe 53 screwed into the passage 8 extends across the body 47 and carries the main nozzle 52, the pipe 53 being secured, and the nozzle pressed against a flange 54, by a sleeve 56 and nut 58. The pipe 53 is provided with fuel orifices 55<1> opening into an annual chamber 55 at the bottom of the nozzle.
