Abstract
372,893. Spray carburetters. SOC. ANON. SOLEX, 190, Avenue de Neuilly, Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. March 20, 1931, No. 8637. Convention date, April 1, 1930. [Class 7 (iii).] A downdraught carburetter c o m - prises a spraying device 9 having a truncated coned head 13, and a central bore 10 into which a fraction of the incoming air enters to emulsify the fuel which is delivered into the air stream through lateral slots 14, 15 between upper and lower flanges with sharp outer edges 16, 17 which produce eddy currents whereby the fuel is prevented from reaching the wall of the nozzle 9 or the choke tube 2. Fuel reaches the annular space between the body 9 and tube 10 through slots 12, and air through orifices 11. Fuel for slow-running flows through conduit 8 to a nozzle 21 located in a passage open to atmosphere at 22 and adjustable by a screw 23. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) refers to Specifications 253,095, [Class 7 (iii). Internal-combustion engines, Carburetting-apparatus &c. for], and 357,310 and describes also a small starting carburetter wherein air entering through an aperture 31 mixes with fuel supplied past a calibrated orifice 30 and needle valve 28, and the mixture enters the induction pipe through an aperture 24 when uncovered by withdrawing a piston 26 carrying the needle valve. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specifiaction as accepted.
