Spray carburettors.-The fuel passage 4 is provided with a metering orifice k<1> and terminates in a nozzle i situated in a mixing- chamber 9 formed in the under surface of a choke-tube h, the outlet h<1> from the chamber being approximately equal in size to the orifice k<1> and leading to a flared conduit provided with flared ports 8 for the admission of secondary air. Primary air reaches the chamber 9 through sectorshaped ports 7 and apertures 2. Air is supplied to the ports 8 through ports 1 is the casing t and an annular passage 3 formed around the choke tube, the ports 1 being controlled by a sleeve d which is set by hand but is pushed down by cams on the throttle spindle b to close the ports 1 as the throttle is closed. Fuel is supplied to the passage 4 through inclined passages 5, 6 leading from a float chamber r, the supply of fuel to which is controlled by a conical valve p, which may be grooved, carried by a float f. The rozzle, i, washer k, and choke-tube h may be replaced by others with different sized bores. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) a choke-tube constructed as shown on the drawing may be arranged between the throttle and the upper part of the choke-tube of an ordinary carburettor.
