Abstract

211,692. A.M.A.C., Ltd., and Guy, W. L. Feb. 13, 1923. Spray carburettors.-A cylindrical mixing chamber A is reduced at B to form a seat for the conical end D of an axially movable valve 0 which, in addition to controlling the mixture, controls also additional air ports G. Air entering through apertures A<5> and slot A' passes a nozzle K to form a rich mixture in the interior of the valve, and when the valve is lowered this mixture passes through ducts J in the conical end D to mix with the air from the ports G on its way to the outlet B<2>. The valve has one or more rings C<3> actuated by a lever E and is prevented from rotating by a pin F in the slot A<4>. An adjustable sleeve J<1>, the bore of which is approximately of Venturi form, is screwed into the valve C. The bore may however vary otherwise or may be parallel. The nozzle K may be of large bore and its outlet regulated bv a stem L. The sleeve J<1> may carry a tube which projects down to the closed bottom of the mixture chamber and fits the nozzle K, such tube having slots to vary the fuel delivery. In a further modification the sleeve is dispensed with and the flow of air through the interior of the valve is controlled bv a conical plug sliding over the fuel nozzle. The plug is moved axially bv a radial arm thereon passing through an inclined slot in the wall of the mixing chamber.
