Abstract

280,028. Brown & Barlow, Ltd. Brown, C. Oct. 28, 1926. Spray carburettors.-Rich mixture is supplied to the mixing-chamber through an annular space k in which slides a plate throttle valve e, the construction being such that when the throttle valve is fully open the draught passage of the carburettor is unobstructed. The carburettor bodv comprises a heavy portion a to which is secured a light channel-shaped portion b, the space k being formed between the body portion a and the end of an interchangeable choke tube h which is secured in position by the air inlet g. Fuel is supplied through a needle valve m to a space a to which air is admitted through an uncontrolled orifice r, Fig. 7, and through orifices s controlled by a manuallyoperated piston t, the rich mixture passing through ports u. Fig. 6, to a chamber j surrounding the choke tube h and communicating with the space k. The throttle plate e and needle valve m are carried by a plug d operated by Bowden mechanism or the like and loaded by springs v. To promote turbulence when the rich mixture enters the main air passage, the mixture outlet passage is slightly larger in diameter than the choke tube h.
