Abstract

364,883. Spray carburetters. FEROLDI, E., 49, Corso Orbassano, Turin, Italy. Feb. 5, 1931, No. 3742. Convention date, Feb. 6, 1930. [Class 7 (iii).] The mixing chamber is divided by a tapering conduit 13 into two compartments which are in constant communication with one another through ports 15 and to each of which fuel is supplied through a spraying nozzle 7. Orifices 17, 16 in the nozzle supply auxiliary fuel and fuel for slow running. With the throttle valve 11 closed a slow running mixture is drawn through passages 9, 10, and as the throttle opens the orifice 17 is brought into action ; during normal running fuel issues through the orifice 17 and the nozzle and if the throttle opening is increased air enters the mouth of the nozzle 7 to decrease the fuel supplied through the orifice 17. A needle valve may control the outlet of the nozzle 7. When starting, the carburetter may be supplied with light fuel whilst during normal running heavy fuel may be used. The drawings of the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) show a modification in which a throttle valve is mounted in the tapering conduit. This drawing does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
