Abstract

295,599. Legac, S. G. Y. M. Aug. 13, 1927, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Spray carburettors. -Fuel is fed through an aperture 4 to the spraying duct 7 of a nozzle 8, the delivery being controlled by a valve 6 vibrated by the engine suction. The valve spindle 5 carries two pistons 11, 12 in a cylinder 9 mounted on the nozzle 8 and provided with lateral ports 10. The piston 11 acts as a guide, and the space above the piston 12 communicates through a nozzle 13 and aperture 16 with the bore 15 of a transverse tube which communicates through a duct 17 with the engine side of the throttle valve 18. At starting, with throttle closed, the intense suction is transmitted to the piston 12, thus ensuring that the fuel valve is kept open to give a rich mixture. The suction passage is controlled by a screw-down valve 19. The air supply is controlled by a rotatable valve 3.
