Abstract

151,987. Berthelot, D. P. A., and Guilbaud, H. J. F. Oct. 2, 1919, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors.- A nozzle designed to supply a mixture of constant proportions, comprises an air tube 1 terminating in a nipple 2 and enclosed within a fuel tube 9 fitted with a cup 6 provided at its upper end with a conical mixing chamber o the outlet 8 of which is smaller than the orifice in the nipple 2. The tube 1 is screwed into the tube 9 and is provided with a conical shoulder 5 at the base of the nipple 2 which coacts with the base of the cap 6 to regulate the fuel supply. The tube 1 is adjusted by rotating a notched head 20 thereon, and is locked by a spring latch 19 mounted on a washer 16 which secures in position cork packing 15 surrounding the tube 1. An excessive flow of fuel at high speeds is prevented by the baffling effect of the air drawn through the nipple 2. In a modification, in which the fuel supply is not adjustable, the tube 1 is fixed, and the cap 6 is provided with a sleeve which screws on to the tube 1 and is provided with a fuel orifice. The nozzle may enter the choke tube 25 co-axially or at right-angles. A slow-running nozzle, substantially similar to the main nozzle but having a fixed air tube 1 and an adjustable cap 6, may be provided, this nozzle opening into a passage discharging at the level of the throttle 26. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), the orifice 8 may be equal to the orifice in the nipple 2. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
