Abstract

260,667. Weslake, H. Aug. 4, 1925. Spray carburettors.-A flat nozzle c is mounted horizontally in a horizontal mixing or choke tube a, preferably of rectangular cross-section, and' sprays a film of liquid through its orifice c<3>. Air is drawn into the film through a series of holes c<7> in the upper surface of the orifice, the distribution of these holes being determined so as to allow the richness of the mixture to be adjusted by the movement of the transverse throttle valve e, the surface of which is in close proximity to the fuel orifice c<3>. The nozzles mav be in duplicate, and are only may be formed with the openings c<7>. The air passage above the nozzle may be regulated by adjustment of the hinged member a<5> pivoted to the outer flared end of the mixing tube and actuated by Bowden mechanism a<7>. The float chamber b is set so that the level of fuel therein is immediately below the central plane of the nozzle c, and the fuel passes to the nozzle by way of the annular chamber d<1>, and passage d<2> in the plug d. Specification 183,205 is referred to.
