Abstract

318,644. Malin, R., and Haase, T., [Firm of]. Sept. 7, 1928, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors.-Fuel is delivered through a sprayer f into a relatively large chamber b separate from the induction pipe w but communicating therewith through a tube k, perforations in which are controlled by the throttle valve a. The velocity of the mixture falls in the chamber b and deposition therein of coarse fuel particles is facilitated. The chamber has overflow orifices d below the level of the orifice in the sprayer f and, at its lower end, terminates in an annular chamber e communicating with the sprayer through orifices x. The sprayer is fed from the float chamber c through ducts h and a calibrated nozzle g. The mixture on its way to the tube k passes through filters l which serve also to prevent damage due to backfiring. Air is drawn over the sprayer orifice through a transverse tube s, Fig. 2, so as to project the fuel into chamber b away from the tube k, the air being supplied through an uncontrolled duct o, and an inlet n controlled by a valve m. At starting, the float is agitated to cause flooding of the chamber e and part of the chamber b.
