Abstract
284,881. Spiller, H. W., and Smith, & Sons (Motor Accessories), Ltd., S. March 12, 1927. Spray carburettors. - Fuel from the float chamber 1 passes through a conduit 4, groove 10, and orifices 11 to a chamber 9 in a detachable plug 6 which supplies the main nozzle 28 through a calibrated orifice 8, and the slow-running nozzle through orifices 13, a conduit 14, a detachable diffuser 17 and a valve-controlled conduit 24 opening into the induction passage 25 adjacent the throttle valve. The diffuser 17 is provided with a calibrated fuel orifice 18, an axial air inlet passage 19, and mixture outlet orifices 23, and is slidably mounted in the chamber 15, being secured in position by a screwed cap 32 provided with air inlet orifices 33. The main nozzle 28. to which air is admitted through a conduit 27, extends about half way across the induction passage, is provided with lateral outlets 30 for the fuel emulsion, and is closed at the top by a stud 29 which extends into the nozzle below the orifices 30.
