Abstract
259,861. Douglas Motors, Ltd., and Barter, J. J. May 25, 1926. Spray carburettors. - A main nozzle 11 and a slowrunning nozzle 13 are arranged in an air passage which is connected to the induction pipe at 16 and has a transverse cylindrical passage 17 in which a D- sectioned throttle 24 slides; when this throttle is closed it forms a chamber 32b which receives air through holes in the cap 26 and is connected to the nozzle 13 by a passage 32<a>. A choke passage, which has parallel sides and conical edges, and is smaller at the base than at the top, is formed in a member 18 which is also D-seetioned and may be retained by a flanged ring 27 and the cover 26. The member 18 is drilled at 21 to accommodate a sliding air-valve, and this vlave and the throttle are operated by Bowden wires passing through stops 29, 28. To enable the air to pass from the holes in the cap 26 to the chamber 32<b>, the throttle is a loose fit in its barrel and a. slot is provided in the sliding air valve. The nozzles are fed from a float chamber through calibrated orifices in removable plugs.
