Abstract
301,071. Lioud, F. Nov, 24, 1927, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors.-In a carburettor employing two liquids, light fuel and heavy fuel or water are supplied by constant level chambers 1, 2, .ducts 3, 4 and calibrated orifices 5, 6 to wells 9, 10 connected respectively to chambers 14, 17 opening into the annular passages 13, 16 of the main nozzle, air being admitted to the light fuel passage 13 through orifices 19 in the central air admission tube 11, the inlet to which is situated above the fuel level x, y. The main nozzle opens directly into the main air admission codnuit 18 of the carburettor, the outlet of the light fuelpassage 13 being at a higher level than that of the heavy fuel passage 16. An air inlet orifice 21 is provided at the upper end of the holder 7 carrying the orifice 5 for light fuel, air passing through the conduit 20 and emulsifying the fuel passing through the orifices 22 to the well 9 when the fuel level has fallen and the orifices 22 are no longer submerged. The calibrated orifice 6 for heavy fuel may be submerged as shown in Fig. 2, or may be situated above the fuel level, in which case an air admission orifice is provided at the upper end of the chamber supplied by the orifice. The slow-running conduit, which opens into the main conduit 18 adjacent the throttle valve, is provided with calibrated orifices admitting air and fuel, the fuel being supplied directly from the light fuel float chamber 1. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), which refers to Specifications 258,866 and 276,514, the slow-running conduit is connected by a passage to the light fuel well 9, and a valve is provided adapted to put the slow-running conduit and the well 9 successively into communication with the atmosphere. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
