Abstract

193,331. Appleton, F. W., Jones, W. A., Lytheer, J., and Leresche, C. H. May 13, 1922. Spray carburettors.-A suction-actuated fan is mounted on the fuel nozzle below which is a removable filter, and extra air valves are actuated from the throttle valve. The mixing chamber j is adjustably mounted through flanges j<1> and bolts j<2> on the float chamber a which carries a nozzle body f supporting a nozzle h surrounded by a perforated draught tube g. The nozzle has lateral fuel outlets for normal running and a small vertical outlet for low speeds, the latter being formed in a port upon which is mounted the fan i which may have a ball bearing. Below the nozzle body is a removable filter chamber c with gauze filter d' and drain cock e. A cock b con. trols the fuel flow to the nozzle. Primary air enters through ports a<x>. Additional air is admitted to the mixing chamber through one or more valves actuated from the throttle valve spindle m<1>. Two valves are shown consisting of ported discs k<2>, l<2> working inside ported caps k, l the valves being connected to the throttle spindle through links k<3>, k<4>, k<5> and l<3>, l<4>, n.
