Abstract

445,667. Spray carburetters. KING, D. P., 31, Devon Street, Goodwood, South Australia. July 25, 1935, No. 21182. Convention date, July 25, 1934. [Class 7 (iii)] Perforations between an air intake duct forming a continuation of the induction pipe and a float chamber above the level of the fuel are arranged in regions of different pressures and those in the region of greatest depression are provided with channels connecting them with the fuel space to adapt them to spray fuel when there is an air flow through them, means being provided to regulate the pressures in the duct and over the perforations to cause such a flow. A tube 10, divided by an adjustable Venturi 26 into lower and upper parts constituting an air inlet and a mixing chamber respectively, communicates through two rows of ports 21, 22 with the upper part of an annular float chamber 9 clamped between a flange 11 on the tube 10 and a nut 12. The upper ports are adjusted by needle valves and passages 23 extend from the lower ports to beneath the level of the fuel, one of them being extended upwards to form an idling nozzle. The suction communicated to the float chamber 9 is controlled by a valve 41 in the air inlet the valve being linked to a throttle valve 40, to move in unison therewith, by a resilient connection permitting the valve 41 to be closed independently for starting purposes. The Venturi 26 may be in two parts bored eccentrically and relatively rotatable to adjust the passage therethrough.
