Abstract
238,100. Assmus, F., and Kloss, S. Nov. 3, 1924. Spray carburettors.-The mixture of fuel and air is subjected to centrifugal action in a rotating drum, having its wall perforated, and preferably divided internally by a longitudinal perforated partition. The casing consists of two castings 1, 2, of which 1 contains the rotating drum 38 and 2 the fuel spraying means. Fuel from a float chamber is fed through a passage 16 to channels 47, 48 of which 48 leads to the edge of the throttle valve 46 and serves as a slow running device. Channel 47 leads to the sprayer 22 controlled by needle valve 24 and the fuel therefrom is mixed in the chamber 34 with air admitted through passages 25 controlled by a disc valve 26. From chamber 34 the mixture passes propellers 33, 40 on its way to the drum which, together with the propellers, is rotated by a main air stream entering through sieve 27 and passing ribs 20 and through controllable ports 36 and acting upon helical blades 42, 43 on the perforated wall. Interiorly the drum is preferably divided by a perforated partition 39. Fuel is drawn into the float chamber by suction transmitted through a pipe 17 the float carrying two valves, the upper controlling the suction and the lower the flow to the sprayer.
