Abstract

143,534. Capobianco, A. di E. May 19, 1919, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors.-The carburettor has two nozzles, one t for starting and slow running located in a well p and discharging into the interior of a throttle valve v, and another l for normal running comprising two co-axial tubes m, n, the inner tube n being perforated by a series of holes q. The main nozzle l is fed from the float chamber a through an orifice c and a larger orifice k, and the fuel passage between these orifices is in communication with a tube h with an annular closed air chamber f provided with a plug i which is removed at starting to permit of the fuel attaining the same level in the chambers a, f. Fuel reaches the well p through the orifices q, r and is admitted to the nozzle t through an oriffice w. The well is open to an air supply, which may be heated, at s, and the nozzle t has a series of perforations, horizontal or helical, at x, and another series at y, the latter being adjustable by rotating the screwed part z of the nozzle. The Specification enters into a description of the function of the holes x at starting, of the tubes w, n during intermediate and high speeds, and of the chamber f, which is stated to compensate for the fluctuating pressure in the choke-tube and its effect on the flow of fuel during normal running, slowing- down, and accelerating. The main nozzle is stated to deliver at times an emulsion of air and fuel.
