Abstract
114,185. Hissing, A. W. March 19, 1917. Spray carburettors.-The nozzle is placed obliquely across the main air passage and comprises concentric tubular members 8, 10 to the annular space 7 between which fuel is admitted at 7<1> and air at 15 and are mixed therein before issuing through the orifices 9. The inner member 10 is screwed at 11, is adjustable through the disk 21 to vary'the fuel flow past its lower conical end 19 and has apertures 18 to permit air to flow to the annular space 7. The entry of air is controlled by the conical perforated end 16 of an adjustable screwed tubular member 12 provided .with a filtering-screen 14. The lower end 32 of the outer member 8 extends to near the bottom of the float chamber 2 and is formed as a cup 7' to retain fuei and facilitate starting should the engine be stopped on an incline with the mouth of the cup above the fuel level. A pocket 33 in the main air inlet also serves to retain fuel to facilitate starting. The orifices 9 are well removed from the fuel inlet 19. A by-pass 26 communicates through a conduit 25 with the annular space 7.
