Abstract
19,722. Ware, S. J. Sept. 5. Spray carburettors.-A chamber f supplied with fuel from a float-chamber j through a nozzle e communicates with the suction passage at two points, namely, at the lower end of the choke-tube c and, through a pipe n, at a contracted portion c<1> above the throttle d. The chamber f is surrounded bv an annular chamber g with which it communicates through holes h. When the engine is stopped, fuel accumulates in the chambers f, g and, as the throttle is opened, is drawn up the pipe n. As the chamber g becomes emptied, air is drawn through it from the air inlet a and bubbles through the fuel, the mixture passing to the top of the pipe n and chamber f, where it meets the air entering at a. After the bubbling action has ceased, the liquid is sprayed through the nozzle e in the usual manner. If the throttle is opened suddenly, the whole of the fuel in the chambers f, g rises to the top of the chamber f, where it is partly or wholly atomized by the air current.
