Abstract

558. Duncalf, J. Jan. 9. Spray carburettors.- The choke - tube G, is 'conical on its interior surface, and acts as a piston under the influence of the piston H, to which it is rigidly connected by a stirrup which serves as a mixing-device. The suction pressure of the engine is communicated to the under face of the piston H by holes in the diaphragm K, which is preferably integral with the throttle valve L. The upper surface of the piston H communicates with the atmosphere by a constricted orifice H<3> for damping. As the suction increases, the choke-tube descends and partially closes the primary air-ports E' surrounding the jet. The same movement may be used to vary the fuel supply by. having a needle valve N<5> attached to the piston H, or the needle valve may be stationary and adjusted by hand from below.
